Sunland to Rose Bowl via Angeles Crest
An extremely hilly 35-mile ride through Angeles National Forest, with with spectacular views and exhilarating downhills, past Descanso Gardens and ending with a victory lap around the Rose Bowl loop road. 2500 Feet of Climbing.
It's better with larger pictures. If your montior is SUPER-large, try clicking on the first picture, then clicking "Next" to advance; if not, just scroll down, because I've made the pictures pretty large here already.
Here, the descriptions are underneath the pictures. When the pictures are this large, it's a little easy to get confused.

From My House out to Angeles Forest
(Action Bottom->Top) Off we go, between the old K-mart and the school, and over the hill to the Tujunga Wash.

Cross the Wash, then Start Climbing...
(Action Bottom->Top) This part is fairly moderate, but it's enough to get your heart going.

Down a Hill, then Over the Wash Again...
(Action Left->Right) Google Earth often projects bridges onto the ground, as if the bridge had been replaced by a flat picture of the bridge.

Climb, Pass the Dam and Keep Climbing...
(Action Bottom->Top) Note the black, backed-up water behind the dam, on the left, and that the ENTIRE DAM is fairly small, at this scale. Just the section shown here probably takes me an hour and a half.

Slightly Less Steep, up to Angeles Crest
(Action Left->Right) This is fairly moderate again, but you're tired by now...

A 10-Mile Downhill on Angeles Crest to La Cañada
(Action Right->Left) This is all downhill, but it takes a half hour, even so.

Through La Cañada, and a Victory Lap Around the Rose Bowl
(Action Top to Bottom) Yay! In this version of the ride, we just have a car waiting here, so as not to have to go back on Foothill Blvd., but going through Montrose on Honolulu, taking La Tuna, and coming back up through Shadow Hills is also good.
